Milton Road East, Edinburgh
We're thrilled to share this stunning garden design proposal, tailored for a vibrant yet serene outdoor living space in the heart of Edinburgh.
With its south-facing aspect and seamless flow from the beautiful sunroom, this 320m² garden has been reimagined into a multi-functional haven. Clean lines meet natural textures, striking a balance between contemporary elegance and nature’s charm.
This is a space made for peaceful reflection, joyful gatherings, and lasting memories.
The General Picture
• The existing context has already a strong imprint, the house being faced to a vast garden with interesting views, and it evokes an immediate sense of calm and a welcoming embrace upon arrival.
• The purpose of the project is to transform the exiting garden into a place of peace, relaxation and entertainment by creating a high-quality outdoor space for family and friends.
• The heart of the house is on the ground floor. The ‘Sunroom’ (Glazed rear extension) is a wonderful addition with ample windows and doors which offers flexible living spaces and brings the outside space into the house.
The Ethos
• A garden with a strong character defined by clean lines where the form follows the function.
• A vibrant vs informal style reflected in the composition lines, colours and textures, to lead into a unique blend of contemporary beauty and natural elegance.
• The foreground points: visual axes and visual connections between inside and outside, visual and functional communication both horizontally and vertically, considering the sloping sections of the ground.
The Outcome
The spirit of the place – Genius Loci –guided the conception of my design and will live up the garden’s great potential, transforming it into a place for unforgettable experiences for entertainment and relaxation
